Tourism Ministry to invest NIS 1.5m in Eilat boardwalk

The Tourism Ministry will invest NIS 1.5 million to renovate the boardwalk in Eilat, it announced Wednesday.
Six months will be set aside for planning before carrying out the first phase of the project, which will include NIS 300,000 for "assessing the hazards created over the years, as a result of the illegal and unsafe infrastructure." The renovation comes atop NIS 100m. of improvements by the Tourism Ministry and Eilat Municipality.
Tens of millions of shekels will go toward upgrading the section from the eastern boardwalk to the Mul Yam mall, which will connect to the network of boardwalks currently under Ministry construction.
The Tourism Ministry attaches great importance to investment in the resort of Eilat, whose economy is based on tourism," said Tourism Minister Uzi Landau. "Upgrading the boardwalk is one more step of many that the ministry is taking in order to transform Eilat, and Israel in general, into an attractive destination for tourists."
