US President Donald Trump congratulated Saudi King Salman's son Mohammed bin Salman on his promotion to the position of crown prince, Saudi-owned al-Arabiya TV reported on Wednesday.

Al-Arabiya said Trump told Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a telephone call that he aspires to consolidate a US partnership with the kingdom. The report was also carried by Saudi state television.
