Turkish women march in protest against anti-women violence

Hundreds of Turkish women marched in the country's biggest city of Istanbul on Saturday, in protest against violence and animosity they say they have faced from men demanding they dress more conservatively.

The march, dubbed "Don't Mess With My Outfit", started in the Kadikoy district on the Asian side of the city.

The march was in protest at increasing verbal and physical attacks against women in Turkey for their choices of outfits, with some women being assaulted publicly.

In June, Asena Melisa Saglam, 21, was attacked by a man on a public bus in Istanbul for wearing shorts during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Footage of the incident showed the man hitting Salgam while the bus driver watched from the driver's seat.
