World leaders send Peres Independence Day congratulations

Leaders around the world sent President Shimon Peres letters of congratulations upon celebrating Israel's 65th anniversary of Independence on Tuesday.
US President Barack Obama wrote in his letter, "I was deeply honored to have the opportunity to visit Israel just a few week ago and to witness first-hand the deep and everlasting bond between our countries."
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his regards as well though they were slightly more subdued than Obama, Putin wrote, "I am satisfied with the friendly character of Russian-Israeli relations."
Finally new Pope Francis sent his letter of praise to Israel via Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto, who is the Vatican's liaison to Israel. "At the beginning of my Pontificate," the Pope wrote, "l gladly invoke upon you and all the people of Israel the blessings of the Most High."
