  • The Hebrew University's Harry S. Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace together with the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Anti-Semitism will host a symposium on Dictatorship, Democratization and Anti-Semitism in Argentina with the participation of Argentinian Ambassador Atilio Molteni and other speakers.   • IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.Gen. Dan Halutz will discuss Israeli Security in an Era of Global Terror in "Friday Academics" an open house program conducted by Bar Ilan University. The moderator will be veteran broadcaster Yaacov Achimeir. Also appearing will be Prof. Benny Bartov, who will discuss innovations in trying to overcome male infertility. Entertainment will be provided by Israel Prize laureate Orna Porat, who also has an honorary doctorate from BIU. The event begins at 11 a.m. in the Wohl Center on the BIU campus. Admission is free.   • The annual Medical Conference on Cell Therapy will be held at the Tel Aviv Hilton from 10 a.m. Papers to be presented will focus on private and public blood banks, a special health insurance plan for expectant mothers, naming the new baby and knowing that the infant has been properly identified, the motor developments of babies and the manner in which proper nourishment affects development.   • Metuna, the organization that works towards the prevention of road accidents, is holding its seventh conference and the third in memory of Anthony Harris at the Dead sea Meridien Hotel. Titled a "Thinking out of the Box" conference, it invites participants to share their thoughts on how to prevent road injury by changing attitudes. The conference will take a fresh look at the failure of Israeli society to reduce road death and serious injury and why solutions that work in the majority of western countries are not adopted here. Participants will explore the reasons why society is seemingly resigned to the inevitable devastation of so many families every year. Within the framework of the three-day conference Metuna will create a dialogue with media representatives, psychologists and public health officials who deal with trauma and the aftermath of vehicle collisions.   • The Inter-Disciplinary Center Herzliya will host a conference under the title Passage to India. This will be the first in a series of seminars on cross-border management and will bring together management specialists, business professionals and academic experts. Speakers will include Prof. Amit Kapoor of the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at the Harvard Business School. Kapoor will present an overview of the Indian economy and will also focus on business and investment opportunities in India.
  • The Israel Society of Endocrinology together with The Israel Society of Sports Medicine will host a symposium on drug abuse among athletes within the framework of the the annual conference of the ISE. The two-hour symposium beginning at 3:15 p.m. will be held at Kfar Hamaccabiah in Ramat Gan.
  • Lesley University, Cambridge, Mass. in celebration of its 25 years of activity in Israel, has initiated and is sponsoring an international conference on creative approaches to group, family and social conflicts under the title: "Imagine - Expression in the Service of Humanity." Several universities and group-research oriented organizations from Israel and abroad are co-sponsoring the conference. University co-sponsors include: Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Al-Quds University of East Jerusalem. In addition the following organizations that work with group treatment are co-sponsoring: AGPA, IAGP, GAS, EGATIN and others. The conference, which will be held at the Tel Aviv Hilton, is apolitical and focuses on creative approaches to dealing with inter-group and intra-group conflicts, in societies and between societies, with a focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Jewish, Israeli Arab and Palestinian group leaders will lead 40 roundtable discussion groups during the conference. The three day event will focus on a different aspect each day, beginning with conflict, then trauma and concluding with hope, reconciliation and peace.
