Monday, September 8 THE INTERNATIONAL Institute of Counter- Terrorism (ICT) at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya will host its annual International Conference on Global Terrorism. The four- day event will include a memorial service for all victims of terrorism from around the world, with the participation of US Ambassador James Cunningham. Tuesday, September 9 TO MARK the conclusion of the shmita year, in which fields lay fallow, the Religious Kibbutz Movement will hold a conference at Kibbutz Saad with the participation of Agriculture Minister Shalom Simhon and Agriculture Ministry officials. The purpose of the conference is to be better prepared for the next shmita year. Wednesday, September 10 THE INFLUENCE of Israeli and Palestinian Domestic Politics on the Peace Process will be discussed by Prof. Yehezkel Dror, professor of political science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; and Hani alMasri, a political commentator for Al-Ayyam newspaper, at Jerusalem's Ambassador Hotel at 11 a.m. The event is within the framework of the Afternoons with IPCRI series. For more details: www.pc.co.il/redhat08 AGRICULTURE MINISTER Shalom Simhon will participate in a Conference on Capital Markets to be held under the auspices of the Moshav Movement and the Helman Aldoubi Group at Kibbutz Shefayim. The conference follows a decision by the Moshav Movement to transfer its pension funds and pension-plan agreements to the care of Helman Aldoubi, with a view to securing better pension arrangements for moshav members reaching retirement age. Thursday, September 11 THE JERUSALEM Friends of the Hebrew University will host a lecture series on the High Holy Days, with the first lecture devoted to Yom Kippur, Kol Nidrei, Atonement, Absolution and Forgiveness. The lecture will be led by Prof. Rachel Elior and Prof. Avigdor Shinan at 5 p.m. at the Clubroom of the Jerusalem Friends at the HU Edmond J. Safra Campus, Givat Ram. THE SECOND Israel Inventors Forum will convene at Smolarsz Hall on the Tel Aviv University campus. Moderated by television personality Gadi Sukenik, the conference will include a huge exhibition of Israel inventions. The program will include a discussion on what inventors have contributed to Israel's economy. THE FOREIGN Press Association's annual Finance Conference targeted at finance and business bureau managers will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dead Sea, from 10 a.m. The event is open to FPA members only.
