Sunday, March 29 CONTESTED SPACES: Legal and Cultural Practices in Eastern Europe and Palestine/Israel after World War II is the subject of an international conference sponsored by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's School of History. A series of speakers will attempt to supply answers at a conference being held at 3 p.m. at Tel Aviv University's Faculty of Social Sciences in the Naftali Building. IT'S TIME to restart is the title of the mega-Internet convention taking place at the Avenue in Airport City, with the participation of all the big companies in electronic communication. The convention is co-hosted by TheMarker and Bezeq. FORMER AMBASSADOR to the UN Dan Gillerman, currently chairman of the Israel Opportunities Foundation, will be the guest of honor of the Israel Manufacturers Association. He will speak to industrialists about economic relations between Israel and the US and how they are affected by facts on the ground in the two countries. Monday, March 30 THE ISRAEL-India Business Forum, with the participation of Indian Ambassador Navtej Singh Sarna and special guests from India will convene at the David Intercontinental Hotel in Tel Aviv at 8.30 a.m. to try to formulate a plan for combating the effects of the global economic crisis. IN CONJUNCTION with the awarding of the annual Joint Distribution Committee Boris Smolar Prize for journalism on Israel-Diaspora Relations, which will this year be awarded to Shmuel Rosner, there will be a debate on Israel Media Coverage of Israel-Diaspora Relations at 7 p.m. in Jerusalem at the Konrad Adenauer Convention Center, Mishkenot Sha'ananim. Participants include David Landau, former editor-in-chief of Haaretz; Chemi Shalev, deputy editor of Israel Hayom; and Ido Aharoni, head of the Foreign Ministry's Branding Israel Project. A SYMPOSIUM on ways that are still available to prevent the construction of the Simon Wiesenthal Center for Tolerance on the site of a Muslim cemetery in Jerusalem's Mamilla neighborhood will be hosted by IPCRI at 3 p.m. at Jerusalem's Ambassador Hotel. Speakers include attorney Daniel Seidemann, Prof. Yehushua Ben-Arieh, attorney Saif Durgham , attorney Einat Horowitz and Dr. Gershon Baskin. Wednesday, April 1 TO MARK the centennial of Tel Aviv, a two-day international conference on Urban Existence will be held at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center. The conference will deal with demographic, social architectural, economic, energy, ecological, environmental and cultural issues. Participants will include leading global experts on the various topics. TOGETHER WITH the Defense Ministry and the Etzel Veterans Association, the Begin Heritage Center will hold a memorial evening in tribute to Rabbi Aryeh Levine, one of the legendary figures of Jerusalem, who brought comfort and encouragement to Etzel and Lehi prisoners who were incarcerated by the British Mandate authorities. TO MARK the new publication of the writings of Gershom Scholem, there will be a conference in Hebrew at 6 p.m. in the Weintraub Hall of the National Library on HU's Edmond J. Safra campus at Givat Ram. Thursday, April 2 THE JABOTINSKY Institute in saluting the 100th anniversary of the founding of Tel Aviv will host an evening of nostalgia in which veteran Tel Avivians will share anecdotes about the city, will discuss some of its history, its crises and its poetry. The stand of mayor Israel Rokach against the British will be recalled by Shlomo Nakdimon. The event will begin at 5.15 p.m. at the Jabotinsky Museum, 38 King George Street, Tel Aviv.
