The Israel Business Conference hosted by the Globes financial daily, is taking place over the next two days at the David Intercontinental Hotel, Tel Aviv with the participation of some 3,000 business people from Israel and abroad. The conference sets the stage for a direct dialogue between the business and economic community and local decision makers together with important figures from around the world. The Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor, the leader of the parliamentary opposition, Governor of the Bank of Israel and other senior officials traditionally participate in the conference, the deliberations of which are reflected in Israel's national agenda.
A two-day conference, entitled "Islam in Europe: European Islam or Eurabia?" will be held at Hebrew University's Maiersdorf Faculty Club under the auspices of the European Forum. Conference sessions will focus on Islam in Europe - specifically Germany, France and Great Britain - and the relationship between the Middle East and Europe. Lectures include Jihadism as an obstacle to Integration; How to overcome Muslim estrangement in European societies; Germany's new Islampolitik; West-African Muslims in France and the United States; A British Jihadist: A revealing interview about coexistence, Armageddon, end of days; Multiculturalism and the rise of radical Islam in Britain; Religious rights of Muslim minorities in Europe and Israel; and "Coexistence of religions: Bosnia-Herzegovina - a case in point for Europe."
The conference will feature speakers from Israel, Germany, France, Britain, Austria, Switzerland and the Palestinian Authority.

The Third International Conference on Health Policy to be hosted by the Israel National Institute for Health Policy and Health Services Research will be held at the International Conference Center Binyanei HaUma, Jerusalem. I'lam, The Media Center for Arab-Palestinians in Israel, is hosting a conference on Media Rights as Human Rights with the participation of communications and legal experts from Israel and abroad. The conference begins at 9:45 a.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, Hayarkon Street, Tel Aviv. It will include a presentation of I'lam's project "Responsible and Professional Media" funded by the European Union, a panel discussion on Women in the Media and a Roundtable on Public Service Broadcasting with particular emphasis on changes required in the Israel Broadcasting Authority so that Arab citizens in Israel will be properly serviced. The conference is being held in conjunction with the 58th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Participants will be able to meet and establish relations with other Human Rights NGOs during the day.

In celebration of their 15th anniversary, The English speaking Friends of the Tel Aviv University are hosting a symposium on global warming in cooperation with the Porter School of Environmental Studies. Beginning at 3:30 and concluding at 8:00 p.m., the symposium will be held in the Cohen-Porter Building of Life Sciences, Rose and Morris Leigh Auditorium. The Keynote Speaker is Prof. Paul Crutzen, Nobel Laureate for Chemistry - Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Germany.
On the evening prior to the symposium, there will be a screening of the prize-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" featuring former US vice president Al Gore. The film will be shown on Wednesday, December 13 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Mexican building on then TAU campus.
The second two-day KEDEM conference on Inter-religious Reconciliation will take place at the Konrad Adenauer Conference Center at Mishkenot Sha'ananim in Jerusalem on the theme "Cooperation between Religious and Political Leaders in Promoting Reconciliation between Arabs and Jews in Israel." The conference - which will be co-sponsored by ICCI, Religions for Peace, USAID (the Conflict Mitigation and Management Division) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Israel - will bring together grass-roots religious and political leaders from all over Israel for an intensive set of discussions. Prof. Tom Maniatis, a Harvard professor of molecular and cellular biology with particular expertise in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - A.L.S. will be the keynote speaker at The IsrA.L.S. Research Association conference at the Dan Panorama Hotel, Tel Aviv. The launch of two new books - an anthology of essays by Herut ideolog and MK Yochanan Bader and a memoir of Irgun Commander, Herut leader, MK and minister in the first Begin-led government Haim Landau will be the basis for an evening of nostalgia hosted by the Jabotinsky Institute. Both men are long dead, but left a permanent imprint on the Revisionist Movement. Memories of their deeds, their writings, their speeches and their characters will be revived by MK Reuven Rivlin, former minister Uzi Landau who is the son of Haim Landau, Dr. Yitzhak Alfassi, Shlomo Nakdimon, Yechiel Kadishai and Yosef Kister.
