Renowned saxophonist Kenny Garrett will travel to Israel to play six shows in May - at the Zappa Clubs in Tel Aviv and Herzliya. The American post-bop jazz player will be on tour to promote his latest album, Sketches of MD. The album shows a quieter side of the musician than previous ones, and is said to be reminiscent of John Coltrane and Miles Davis - with whom he played for five years. Garrett, who was born in Detroit, got his big break when he joined the Duke Ellington Orchestra in 1978, which was led by Ellington's son at that point. He will be joined in Israel by a drummer, bassist and organ player. Tickets are available by calling (03) 767-4646.
