Israeli security forces killed a young Palestinian man in the West Bank city of Jenin during clashes that broke out there in a pre-dawn raid Tuesday to arrest suspects involved in terrorist activity, an IDF spokeswoman said.

The IDF released a short video clip from the clashes in which it is possible to see security forces in the city and hear the sound of gunfire.

Two Israeli soldiers were lightly wounded, according to the spokeswoman.

According to Palestinian sources, two Palestinians were also injured, one moderately and the other lightly.

The Palestinian man who was killed, Majd Lahlouh, died from a gunshot wound to the chest. His funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon in Jenin, his body wrapped in a Palestinian flag and carried on a gurney through city streets, where mourners thronged to bid him farewell.

Conflicting reports have stated that Lahlouh was either 17 or 22.

The IDF and the Border Police had gone to a refugee camp in Jenin to arrest Bassam Sa’di, a member of the Islamic Jihad. Israeli security forces entered and searched his home.

Palestinians attacked the security forces and threw empty bottles and stones, military sources said. In response, security forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets.

The IDF spokeswoman said live fire was exchanged during the clashes. She said that Palestinians opened fire and threw explosives at the Israeli security force, but she did not elaborate on which side initiated the use of live ammunition.

During the raid, one Palestinian was arrested for suspected involvement in terror activity, she said. He was interrogated.
