IDF makes series of senior appointments

Col. Merav Kirshner to head Doctrine and Personnel Management Division; Col. Eran Niv to head Personnel Division in Ground Forces.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz made a series of senior military appointments this week, which now require final approval by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon.
The appointments include Col. Merav Kirshner, a female officer set to be promoted to brigadier general and assigned to head the Doctrine and Personnel Management Division at the IDF’s Personnel Branch. Kirshner will become the fourth female brigadier-general.
Other appointments include Col. Eran Niv, who is commander of Training Base 1, the officer candidate school, and will be promoted to brigadier-general and made head of the Personnel Division in the Ground Forces.
Brig.-Gen. Tal Kelman, commander of the Hatzerim Air Base near Beersheba, will become head of the IAF’s Squadron Command.
A series of air bases will receive new commanders, including Ramat David, southeast of Haifa, to be headed by Col. Ein Dar Amnon, and the Ramon Air Base, near Mitzpe Ramon, to be commanded by Col. Peleg Niago.
Naval Capt. David Salame is set to become a vice-admiral and head of the Israel Navy’s Haifa Base.
