A mob of right wing Jewish extremists armed with batons attacked a prominent French journalist during a violent demonstration outside the offices of Agence France-Presse in Paris, according to the British newspaper Guardian.
The French branch of the far-right Jewish Defense League was apparently targeting David Perrotin, a reporter for the BuzzFeed web site who has come under fire for being "anti-Israel."
The JDL, which was founded by the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, has been declared a terrorist organization by the United States and has also been outlawed by Israel.
Police were forced to protect Perrotin from dozens of JDL activists, some of whom were waving Israeli flags. A number of them tried to break into the offices of the French wire service Agence France-Presse, according to Guardian.
"We are here to show our support for Israel in our war against the Arabs," one of the JDL operatives is quoted by Guardian as saying. "Journalists who work for organizations like AFP support Islamist terrorists, so we must return fire."
