2 Spanish troops killed in Afghan suicide attack

Two Spanish troops were killed Sunday in a suicide car bomb attack in western Afghanistan. The bomber attacked the troops in the western province of Herat, which experiences much less violence than southern and eastern provinces. Police spokesman Raouf Ahmadi said the attack took place near the village of Azizabad. In Spain, a Defense Ministry official said two Spanish soldiers died in the attack. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information. A spokeswoman for the NATO-led force in Afghanistan said officials were checking the reports.
