Colombia's Uribe talks as if Obama will win

President George W. Bush's staunchest ally in Latin America apparently believes Barack Obama will be the next US president. At least that's what Colombian President Alvaro Uribe indicated during a public debate with trade union leaders. Uribe said Monday that he plans to tell Sen. Obama - "when he is president of the United States" - that unions in Colombia face fewer restrictions than the Democratic presidential nominee might think. Colombia's judicial workers have been on strike for 50 days. Obama cites violence against unionists - 31 have been killed so far this year - in opposing a free trade agreement with Colombia. His opponent, Republican Sen. John McCain, backs the treaty, which is stalled in the US Congress.
