A leading conservative publication is calling on Republican voters to deny the GOP nomination to current frontrunner Donald Trump.
The National Review, the influential conservative journal founded by the noted right-wing intellectual William F. Buckley, Jr., invited leading voices on the American Right to contribute editorial pieces denouncing Trump’s candidacy.
The list of prominent pundits who are now lining up against Trump includes William Kristol, John Podhoretz, Yuval Levin, Erick Erickson, Glenn Beck, and Cal Thomas.

“Donald Trump is a menace to American conservatism who would take the work of generations and trample it underfoot on behalf of a populism as heedless and crude as The Donald himself,” the magazine said in an editorial.

According to CNN and The New York Times, the magazine’s editor, Rich Lowry, worked for weeks in commissioning pieces from fellow conservatives in the hopes of rallying public opinion amongst Republican voters who polls show continue to back Trump.
In response, Trump lambasted the National Review.
