The Israel Government Tourist Office in Montreal has just launched a French-language Web site in an attempt to "reach out" to Canada's Francophone community. "The comprehensive French-language edition of the GoIsrael.ca Web site is the must-have URL for start-to-finish research on Israel and for the planning of travel to Israel," the tourist office said in a statement. "The site functions as a conduit for all Francophone Canadians of all ages and social, religious and ethnic backgrounds who are searching out information about Israel for travel purposes, or looking for general topics such as geography, people, culture, history, government and other informative links." Oded Grofman, Israel's consul for tourism in Canada, said, "It was imperative for us to create this French-language Web site and improve our ability to reach out and address the needs of Canada's Francophone communities and Francophone travel trade, including tour operators and travel agents, the majority of whom reside in Quebec," Grofman said. "We worked to create a mirror to our already-launched www.goisrael.ca English-language Web site. We can now confidently and electronically bring a bit of Israel into every Canadian home, school, office, synagogue and church in both official languages."
