Man convicted of incitement during cartoon protest

A jury found a Web site designer guilty Thursday of stirring up racial hatred during a protest against the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. Mizanur Rahman, 23, was also accused of inciting murder, but the jury deadlocked on that count. The march to the Danish Embassy in February was meant as a protest against the publication of the cartoons in Danish and other European newspapers. Prosecutor David Perry said after the session that it was likely there would be a retrial. The case was adjourned until Monday. Rahman's counsel, John Burton, told the jury it was not enough to be "offended, shocked and distressed" by what Rahman said.
