Report: Istanbul blast causes injuries

An explosion in Istanbul, Turkey's commercial center, injured three people Wednesday, the private Cihan news agency reported. The cause of the explosion, which took place in a garbage can in the Kucukcekmece district on the European side of the city, was unknown, Cihan reported. The injured rushed to a hospital, the report said, but their conditions were not known. A homemade bomb went off in a garbage can in the nearby Sefakoy district last week, killing one woman and injuring six other people. No one claimed responsibility for that attack, but Gov. Muammer Guler blamed Kurdish rebels.
