December 29, 2008 17:36

Scuffles have broken out between protesters and riot police during a rally outside the Israeli Embassy in Athens to protest the IAF's bombing campaign in Gaza. About 300 Greek and Arab protesters are gathered outside the embassy north of the city center. Riot police used small amounts of pepper spray to push back a small group of protesters who were throwing stones. A police helicopter is circling overhead. A separate demonstration is planned for later Monday. The march route is to pass the US Embassy before ending at the Israeli Embassy. Riot police have blocked off streets near the demonstration route.
