Turkey: 4 killed in clashes with Kurdish rebels

Three Kurdish rebels and a pro-government village guard were killed in clashes in southeast Turkey in the past two days, while at least three members of the Turkish forces were wounded, the military said Thursday. The clashes took place in an area where an escalation in attacks by Kurdish rebels have killed 67 soldiers this year. Turkish troops killed two members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party who were planting a roadside bomb in the province of Tunceli, the Turkish military said on its Web site. A pro-government village guard and a Kurdish rebel were killed in separate clashes Wednesday that also wounded two other guards and a Turkish soldier.
