A US helicopter crashed Sunday in southern Afghanistan, killing one crewmember, the military said. An AH-64 Apache attack helicopter plunged to the ground shortly after taking off from Kandahar Air Field at 8:30 p.m, the coalition said in a statement. One crewmember was killed, while the other was injured and evacuated for emergency treatment. "The cause of the crash will be investigated, but we have ruled out enemy fire as a cause for the loss of the aircraft," the statement said. The helicopter was responding to a reported rocket attack against the airbase when it crashed. There were no injuries reported from the rocket attack, the military said.
