US military in Japan charges Marine with rape of 14-year-old girl

The US military in Japan said Friday that it has charged a Marine with raping a 14-year-old girl in Okinawa.
Staff Sgt. Tyrone L. Hadnott was charged earlier in the week for the alleged Feb. 10 attack, the military said.
No date has been set for the court-martial.
Japanese police initially apprehended Hadnott in the attack, but released him after the girl dropped charges. US authorities then investigated the case under the strict military justice code.
