A chicken farmer on Indonesia's Sumatra Island has contracted bird flu, the health ministry said Tuesday.
The 28-year-old farmer was admitted to hospital in Padang city in western Sumatra in late March and is now in a stable condition, said Hariadi Wibisono, a senior health ministry official.
Indonesia's case load from bird flu now stands at 30, with 23 fatalities, the second highest of any country, according to WHO.
