Blue and White head Benny Gantz was in the midst of his election campaigning when his plans took a turn.
He was traveling on Route 4, from Ashdod to a polling station in Rishon Lezion, when he encountered a motorcycle accident, according to a report by Channel 13. The rider was badly injured and lying on the road.
Gantz was one of the first on the scene.
The party leader helped direct the MDA teams to where the accident took place and attended to the wounded motorcyclist until the ambulance and the paramedics arrived on the scene.
Gantz's party has polled between 28 and 36 seats in opinion polls during the campaign season and is expected to be neck and neck with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party when exit polls are released at 10 p.m. local time.
Gantz opened the morning at the polling station near his home in Rosh Ha'ayin, where he voted with his wife, Revital.
"This is a day of hope, a day of unity among the people," he said after voting. "I look to the citizens of Israel in their eyes and tell them that change is possible... I call on everyone - respect democracy, go and vote."
