Eytan Fox’s latest film, Cupcakes (2013), a musical comedy, opened on March 27 at the Quad Theater in New York City. This enjoyable movie, which proves that Israeli movies don’t have to be dark and serious to be good, is about a group of friends in Tel Aviv who write a song that becomes Israel’s official entry in a Eurovision-like contest.

Variety called it a “candy-colored, buoyantly upbeat...endearingly goofy celebration of the right to be yourself.”
