The Israel Opera renews its tradition of Opera in the Park with a free, fully staged performance of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly this Thursday (8:30 p.m.; doors open at 7 p.m.) in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park.
Puccini’s poignant score follows the tragic tale of Cio Cio San (Ira Bertman), a young Japanese girl who falls in love with American naval officer Pinkerton (Davide Giusti), with devastating consequences.
Madame Butterfly will be conducted by Francesco Cilluffo together with the Israel Opera Chorus and presented in the world-famous staging by Anthony Minghella.
The opera will be performed in Italian with Hebrew surtitles.
