Grammy-winning American electronic dance music DJ duo The Chainsmokers will be performing for the first time in Israel on August 3 as part of their Memories Do Not Open tour, at the Live Park Arena in Rishon Lezion.
The New York City-based duo, Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, first made a name for themselves by creating remixes of their favorite indie bands that garnered tens of millions of streams.
The duo released its official debut single, “#Selfie,” which celebrated and skewered 2010s narcissism, in 2014. The track’s bouncy beats and self-obsessed words hit number one on the Billboard dance chart and sold over 10 million copies. Meanwhile, “#Selfie”’ s video featured cameos by Snoop Dogg and David Hasselhoff.
The Chainsmokers proved themselves to be the breakout story of 2016 with over 5 billion global streams and three multi-platinum singles – “Closer,” “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Roses.” Each track reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with “Closer” holding the No. 1 spot for 12 weeks, making it the longest running No. 1 of 2016.
The Chainsmokers have collaborated with Halsey, Phoebe Ryan and Daya as well as British superstars Coldplay on the song “Something Just Like This.”
Tickets range from NIS 190-250.
