As the holiday season approaches, hundreds of new immigrants will be celebrating their first Hanukka in Israel.What sets Israeli Hanukka apart from other Hanukka celebrations around the world is the wide array of sufganiot, or jelly donuts, that Israel has to offer. These round donuts, traditionally filled with jelly or custard and topped with powdered sugar, have become a holiday staple, and are eaten to commemorate the miracle associated with the miracle of the temple oil.From caramel to passion fruit, bakeries across the country have begun stocking their shelves with the iconic pastries, signifying the beginning of the holiday season.Nefesh B'Nefesh gave new immigrants their first taste of Hanukka, by organizing a taste test of some unconventional flavors of some of the country's finest holiday treats.The video features eager new Israelis of all ages, the youngest being Noam, 4, and the oldest being Joseph, 90, a Holocaust survivor who immigrated to Israel recently to be closer to his grandson who joined the IDF.
