A 54-year-old grandmother from Bat Yam who 18 months ago decided she would want to donate organs if something happened to her did so, with the help of her family. Adriana Verse was on her way home on Wednesday after visiting a granddaughter and crossed at a painted crosswalk -- and was hit by a bus that left her brain dead.

She was taken to Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center where she was in serious condition. Doctors struggled to safe her life, but were unsuccessful, as her lower brain stopped functioning while her heart continued to beat. Her family agreed to donate organs as a living will and memorial to her, said Israel Transplant on Thursday.
Her liver and kidneys were removed and were due to be transplanted on Thursday.

She left six children, the oldest -- Rodrigo (35) and the youngest 15. She had seven grandchildren, and two more are on the way. Her funeral was held Thursday in Bat Yam.
