Indictment: Pack of teens brutally rob taxi driver for 40 shekels and cigarettes

According to the indictment, the taxi driver arrived in Be’er Ya’acov at night to pick up a passenger when he was assaulted by the youths who had been drinking.

The Central District State Attorney's Office on Thursday filed indictments at Rishon Lezion Juvenile Court against six minors, ages 13-16 from Ramle and Be’er Ya’acov, for alleged involvement in a violent attack and robbery of a taxi driver.
According to the indictment, the taxi driver arrived in Be’er Ya’acov at night to pick up a passenger when he was assaulted by the youths who had been drinking.
One of the youths approached the cab with a pocket knife drawn and demanded that the driver give him money, according to the indictment. When the driver exited the taxi, the group of children began hitting him, with one of the children going so far as to break a vodka bottle on his face. He then allegedly took the bottle shard and sliced the driver's arm with it.
The youths stole NIS 40 from the victim, as well as his cigarettes and telephone.
The driver suffered bodily wounds in the attack that required medical treatment.
The youths were charged with a number of crimes, including robbery, aggravated bodily harm and illegal possession of a knife.
