Spanish soccer player Marco Asensio sparked controversy yesterday after including an Israeli flag emoji in the caption of his tweet.

Asensio tweeted a photo of himself standing over the Western Wall and Temple Mount.

Asensio's tweet has been retweeted over 3,000 times and liked over 16,000 times. Almost 12,000 Twitter users responded to his post. Many of them aren't happy with Asensio's emoji choice.

The Spanish soccer team is currently in Israel for a World Cup Qualifier match against Israel Monday night.
