Social experiments "Old People's Home for 4 Year Olds" and "The Week the Women Went" are getting local adaptations.

The KAN public broadcaster is working on a local adaptation of the British reality series Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds.The show, which originated on the UK’s Channel 4 in 2017, brings together a group of nursing home residents with a group of pre-schoolers for several weeks. In Israel, KAN said, it recruited 10 senior citizens from the Beit Bakfar home to film together with a group of 10 4-year-olds for a period of six weeks. The show, produced by July August Productions, is slated to air on KAN 11 later this year.“Looking after our elderly is a pressing social issue, and this format is a radical way of bringing the generations together for mutual benefit,” said Tal Fraifeld, the VP of programming at KAN. “We can’t wait to see the results of the experiment and share them with KAN viewers.”News of the show came a week after HOT said it would be remaking a different British docu-reality show, The Week the Women Went.While announcing its slate of upcoming original programming for 2019, HOT said it would be creating an Israeli version of the BBC show, which also garnered remakes in the US, Canada, Spain, France and more. The original series featured a small village in which all the women of the town picked up and left one day, leaving the men and children to fend for themselves.The Israeli version, HOT said, will focus on five famous families whose wives and mothers take off. The role of mentors in the show will be filled by controversial TV hosts Ofira Assayag and Eyal Berkovich, who will be there “to advise, support, laugh and get excited along the journey.”
