A two-year-old pedestrian died at the Tel Aviv Port on Sunday when she was run over by a Jeep.
Paramedics treated the child at the scene before evacuating her to Ichilov Hospital and trying to resuscitate her on the way. The girl was in critical condition upon arrival and was pronounced dead about an hour after arriving at the hospital.
Magen David Adom paramedic Yitzhak Ben-David said: “When I arrived at the scene, I saw a girl of about two years of age with a severe head injury lying on the road next to the vehicle, while MDA paramedics and a doctor who was at the scene gave her initial medical treatment and resuscitation. I quickly continued the treatment and we evacuated her in critical condition, while resuscitating her, to Ichilov Hospital where the doctors continued to fight for her life.”
According to the Walla news website, the toddler apparently fell while she was walking with her mother on the pedestrian mall of the complex, which also serves as a parking lot. At the same time, the driver entered the parking lot and ran over the girl.
Police opened an investigation into the incident and held the driver for questioning.
