John Benjamin Hickey, a Tony-winning, Emmy-nominated actor, will star in Eytan Fox’s latest movie, Sublet, which will begin filming in Tel Aviv in late February.
Hickey, who won a Tony in 2011 for The Normal Heart and who had the role of tech mogul Neil Gross in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, will play Michael, a New York Times travel writer grieving over a terrible loss, who comes to Tel Aviv to research his latest article. There, he rents an Airbnb apartment from a young filmmaker, played by Niv Nissim. The two men form a bond over the course of the week that changes their lives, and Michael finds that the unique energy of Tel Aviv helps him embrace life again.

Hickey just starred in The Inheritance, an acclaimed play that ran in London, directed by Stephen Daldry and co-starring Vanessa Redgrave, about the impact of AIDS on the younger generation. It is rumored that the play will move to Broadway.
Fox is one of Israel’s leading filmmakers, who has directed such award-winning movies as Yossi & Jagger, Walk on Water, The Bubble, Yossi and Cupcakes. He wrote Sublet with Itay Segal, and the film is being produced by Gal Uchovsky, with Moshe Edery and Micky Rabinovitz. The production companies involved are United King Films, Streamlight and Mazeh Productions.
