Sudanese-American singer Sinkane canceled a show scheduled for Tel Aviv before it was even announced.
On Wednesday, an Israeli PR company notified reporters that the musician would be performing in Israel for the first time at the Barby Tel Aviv in June. The notice was embargoed for release until Sunday morning. But by Thursday, the show had already been canceled.
“Sadly, after he was pressured over the past day, Sinkane has canceled the show for political reasons,” they announced.
The musician was born Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab in London to Sudanese parents and then settled in the United States. In 2017, The Washington Post said he had “Bob Marley tutelage with a rock edge.” One of his more popular singles, 2017’s “U’Huh,” contains the Arabic phrase “kulu shi tama’am,” which means “everything is going to be alright.”
The musician did not publicly comment on the concert or the cancellation on any of his social media channels.
