Walter and Nina Wiener Scholarships Awarded to Haifa University students
The scholarships were awarded by Ms. Nina Wiener, the honorary chair of the ISEF Foundation, who has returned to Israel after spending the past 50 years in the United States.

As part of a conference at the University of Haifa on the topic of "Dealing with antisemitism, racism and delegitimization,” scholarships totaling NIS 320,000 were awarded to sixteen students from the Israeli Studies Department at the University of Haifa. The scholarship recipients are specializing in a unique course of study which focus on the dangers of anti-Semitism, racism and delegitimization, their harm to the State of Israel in terms of image, tourism, academia and media, and strategies for dealing with this threatr.The scholarships were awarded by Ms. Nina Wiener, the honorary chair of the ISEF Foundation, who has returned to Israel after spending the past 50 years in the United States. ISEF – The International Scholarship Foundation, was established in 1977 by the late Edmund J. Safra, Lily Safra and Nina Wiener and works to promote excellence, equal opportunities in education and narrowing the gaps in Israeli society through increasing access to higher education and developing social and academic leadership.The late Walter Wiener served for two decades as chairman and CEO of Republic National Bank, which was founded by the late Edmund J. Safra, and served as a member of the board of directors of the ISEF Foundation since its inception. Wiener was a staunch supporter of the ISEF Foundation's efforts to open the doors of higher education to young men and women from the social and geographical periphery of Israel. For 43 years, the foundation has worked extensively to promote equal opportunity in Israeli society, providing scholarships to promising young people from Israel’s periphery, from undergraduate degrees to postdoctoral work overseas, and has placed thousands of graduates and graduates in the fields of academia, law, education, and government, investing NIS 430 million over the years.At the scholarship presentation, Nina Wiener told the audience and students: "The program at the University of Haifa for applied training in public diplomacy on behalf of Israel is currently the most appropriate response to the Zionist vision of my husband and I. It is a program that teaches in a serious and practical manner how to cope with the threats of antisemitism and delegitimization in the 21st century. I wish the students great success and I am confident that they will greatly help the State of Israel. "
