A hippopotamus escaped a safari located in Israel's central city of Ramat Gan on Wednesday evening.

The hippo took a few steps outside of the safari's gate and then backtracked inside, where a team of safari staff aided it to return to the hippo's proper location.

The safari management view the incident with utmost severity and have opened an investigation into the occurrence.
