A 60-year-old man stabbed his 58-year-old wife and then tried to stab himself to death on a public street in Ashdod Sunday evening. The couple separated a month ago and are parents to three children. Both were said to be in serious condition and were evacuated to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot. Magen David Adom paramedics and police forces were called to the scene after passersby witnessed the stabbing. The woman was found conscious on the street and allegedly told paramedics that her husband had tried to kill her. The incident comes some two weeks after another Ashdod man, Gilbert Fadida, stabbed his wife to death in the city. An indictment was submitted against Fadida on Sunday morning which described his wife's pleas for her life and the subsequent fatal stabbing. Rosie Fadida's body was found by paramedics, marked with multiple stab wounds. She had recently taken out a restraining order against her husband, who has served a prison term for property theft and violent offenses. A police investigation found that a dispute had erupted after the man arrived at his wife's home armed with a knife, and demanded to see their children. One eyewitness reported seeing him smash his wife's head with a rock before stabbing her repeatedly.
