Palestinian terrorists fired at least 35 rockets at southern Israel on Saturday. A woman sustained light shrapnel wounds when a rocket fired by Gaza terrorists hit a house in Netivot. The house collapsed after the strike. In Ashdod, two people were lightly wounded when a Grad-type rocket slammed into an eight-story building. Magen David Adom paramedic Igor Artel, who oversaw the rescue operation, told The Jerusalem Post that an elderly man and a middle-aged man suffered light shrapnel wounds. They were evacuated to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, together with eight people who were suffering from shock. The elderly man had to be rescued from his apartment, Artel added. Fire and Rescue Service Spokesman Boaz Rakia said the building sustained serious damage to its fourth floor when the rocket struck. "Residents cannot return to this building at this stage," he said. Firefighters combed the building looking for victims trapped under rubble, breaking into apartments when residents did not respond to knocks. Hoisted on a crane, they searched for victims through apartment windows. "We cut off all energy sources to the building - usually there are gas leaks following the rocket impacts. Today, we had a big water leak," Rakia said. A number of other buildings were damaged by rockets Saturday. One rocket hit a cafeteria in a kibbutz on the Gaza periphery, another started a fire in the yard of a house in Ashkelon, a third hit a playground in the city, while a fourth damaged a building in the Ashkelon beach area. Netivot, Sderot, Gan Yavne, Kiryat Malachi, the Sha'ar Hanegev region, and the Eshkol region also reported rocket strikes. Nobody was wounded in any of these attacks. These volleys followed a barrage of 36 rockets on Friday, that lightly wounded seven people and damaged three residential buildings.
