Defense Minister Ehud Barak visited on Wednesday evening the Beersheba school that suffered a direct Kassam hit in the morning.
"We are now on the fifth day of Operation Cast Lead," he said at the site. "We have dealt Hamas a powerful blow, and it continues to be smitten, but also reacts, as we can see here in this school."
"We know that Beersheba residents, along with residents of the entire region, are going through difficult times," he said.
"We announced ahead of time that it will be neither a short nor simple [operation], but we are determined to deepen and broaden the operation until the goals we set are achieved," added Barak.
