A 70-year-old Israeli man was assaulted and robbed Monday by a suspected Arab assailant near a central Jerusalem park, police and rescue officials said. The man, who was lightly injured in the late-morning attack near the city's Independence Park, was taken to Jerusalem's Sha'are Tzedek Hospital for treatment, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. The young assailant, who made off with several thousands shekels, fled the scene.
