Halevy: Israel will have to negotiate with Hamas

Israeli policy was based on only one assumption, and this led to our embarrassment and to the embarrassment of the President of the United States, former Mossad chief Ephraim Halevy said in an interview to Channel 1 television. While Halevy stressed that "we must act toward the Hamas the way the Hamas acts toward us," he added, "When the time comes, if the Hamas leadership understands Israel's minimal demands, then I think a Palestinian government with Hamas in it will be one that Israel will have to negotiate with."
