Outgoing Tourism Minister Isaac Herzog said Sunday that Israel's position on demanding that the new PA unity government keep to the Quartet conditions was correct and appropriate, but that Israel must be wise as well as right. Herzog told the cabinet that it was necessary to strengthen PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and continue to see in him a legitimate partner for negotiations. At the same time, he said, Israel must stand by its demands for an end to terror and Kassam fire and for the release of kidnapped IDF soldier Cpl. Gilad Schalit. The demand for the Palestinian "right of return" must be erased, as well, he said.
