IDF intercepts Truck carrying dangerous chemical substances in West Bank

Security forces on Thursday caught an Israeli truck carrying 300 liters of potassium nitrate at the Tarqumiya crossing, northwest of Hebron. The IDF announced that this was part of an operation to prevent the transfer of prohibited and dangerous substances in the West Bank. In recent weeks the IDF, Israel Police and other agencies have been conducting a campaign to prevent the transfer of prohibited and dangerous substances into the Territories. As part of this campaign, the IDF is conducting specific operations based on the intelligence provided by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) as well as through the routine operation of the security forces. Possession of the substances seized in the Territories is illegal due to their use in the manufacture of rockets, weapons and explosives.
