IDF soldier collapses during training exercise

An IDF soldier was in serious condition overnight Monday after he collapsed during a training exercise in the Jordan Valley. The soldier apparently suffered cardiac arrest after running 1,800 meters. He was airlifted to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer after IDF medics managed to stabilize his condition. The IDF was investigating the circumstances of the incident, which occurred during a physical evaluation that included a 2,000 meter run, push-ups and chin-ups, in preparation for officers' course.
