Israel: Musharraf can visit, but not as mediator

After rejecting the surprise offer by Pakistan's President Gen.Pervez Musharraf to help resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, officials in Jerusalem have clarified that they would welcome a visit by Musharraf. Sources said that there is no need for mediators due to the "strong, positive bilateral dialogue" between Israel and the Palestinians. However Israel would welcome an opportunity to present its position to President Musharraf and listen to his views. The sources stressed that Israel seeks a stronger dialogue and open relations with Islamabad, which has never had diplomatic ties with Israel.
