Jerusalem kindergarten teacher suspected of hitting her pupils

A teacher at religious kindergarten in Jerusalem was arrested on suspicion of having routinely hit the children in her after-school class, aged five and six. The allegations emerged as a result of a conversation the children initiated with the head of the program. The children told the supervisor that the teacher would whip them with belts and hit them using toy blocks and drums. The supervisor passed the information on to child welfare services that then submitted the complaint against the teacher to the police. The children were questioned by investigators and as a result, the teacher, who was considered to be quite experienced, was arrested. The teacher denied the charges.
