The Meretz Party announced it would vote in favor of appointing Kadima MK (formerly Labor) Dalia Itzik to the post of Knesset Speaker.
The Likud Party was also expected to support the appointment, which would mark the first time in Israel's history that a woman would serve in the prestigious position.
