Hundreds of Arab and Israeli left-wing demonstrators gathered near the West Bank town of Bil'in on Friday to protest the construction of the security fence passing nearby.
The demonstration quickly turned violent when the protestors threw stones at security forces and tried to sabotage the fence and the equipment used to erect it.
One officer was lightly wounded by stones thrown at him. He received medical treatment at the scene.
Four demonstrators were detained for questioning by police.
Calm was restored after security forces utilized crowd dispersal gear. The demonstrators claimed that the IDF used stun grenades to disperse them.
Police estimated that there were 300 demonstrators at the scene, including dozens of Israelis and several European Union observers oversaw the events.
The protestors against the fence have been assembling every Friday at Bil'in - an Arab village west of Ramallah. The demonstrations usually result in violent confrontations with security forces guarding the construction of the security fence.
