Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Monday decided to allocate an additional NIS 2.4 billion for the recuperation of the army in the wake of Operation Cast Lead. The amount is NIS 1 billion more than the Treasury initially agreed to allocate.
The defense establishment financed NIS 800 million of the Gaza operation's cost.
The Defense Ministry stressed that the additional budget would be used for reequipping the army and would therefore also go to Israeli factories.
